Whoo Hoo!
Just got home from trading my 4.7l for a 2006 Cummins MEGA Cab! WOW, the space, the power, I am in love. On the way home, a Hemi was beside me. Hey, you only got a HEMI and my lie-o-meter is showing 20.3 at 70 with the A/C blowing full blast.
Towing is no longer an issue!!!! I am HAPPY!
OK, now down to business. What should I do to it first?

take out a second mortgage so you can fill the tank
Since it's an 06 has the exhaust / intake been done? These babies need to breath. Then there are about 10 K worth of stuff you can do for fun

The 4.7L was getting 13 on average. If this gets 18 on average, I am ahead $0.04 per mile on the cost per mile. I did these calculations before I made the change.
I think the air and exhaust are stock. Too dark to tell at this point. I know I need to read, read, read. However, I am lazy tonight. What is the consensus on intake and exhaust (if there is such a thing as consensus)?
I am glad to be in the club!

ATS intake, AFE stage2 intake kit, aero 4040 where the cat used to be and a 30" magnaflow where the stock muffler used to be.
then TST cr49 powermax stacked with a Smarty.
then for the suspension, Kore, Carli or Lorenze all have suspension kits that will allow you to blow over just about anything and come away with all your teeth. anything beyond 3" is just another lift kit. oops, sorry, that is assuming it is a 4x4 of course.

Start with a air intake, I use a AEM bruteforce, but others do a good job. Dump the stock muffler at least. The stock muffler is very restrictive.I am going with a DNA muffler but I hear good things about Aero also. Just got a smarty jr. and man, far and away the best money spent so far. A little more mpg's, and up to 100hp extra when you need it. In the process of checking mpg gains in the different settings, will post with my results. I do alot of towing so I got to watch what I do, but as some have pointed out before, GAUGES, GAUGES, GAUGES.
Pulled the camper to the house for a PM work today. Just as I suspected, it will pull the 7000lb trailer like it's a toy![sm=escape.gif] I have noticed one thing, when I put my foot down the fuel gauge goes down quickly.
As far as mods go, I think MPG gain is just as important to my situation as HP gains. Don't get me wrong, I am a power junky. I just get that need filled through my bike. From what I have heard, air flow will help in this area.
