Price for new CTD
I posted earlier asking about a used 07 5.9L, it since has sold so now Im looking at buying a new one. I got a quote of $ 40,660 on an 08 quad cab 4x4 CTD that stickers at 44,725. That quote does include -$430 of light hail damage discount. They have rebates of $2000 pluswith the 2.99 fuel I have figured it will save you about $4100 over the course of 3 years. So that comes out to $34560. Does anybody think I could get a better deal than that? I plan to drive this vehicle for 100000, I have also figured that with aused pickup with 20000 miles for $27000will actually cost me more per mile than buying a new one. Does anybody have any thoughts or ideas on my thinking?
Thanks

Read the fine print on the $2.99 fuel. There is a limit per year which, I believe, works out to about $800/yr or $2400 total over three years.
You should be able to get a new truck for AT LEAST $10,000 under MSRP (with the dealer cash back). Probably closer to $12,000 under with today's slow truck/suv market. Go look at a different dealer or call Dave Smith in Idaho for a quote to bring in to your local dealer.

OK, so for the first 800 gallons per year your saving $1..75/gal ($4.75-2.99) which works out to $1400/yr or $4200 over three years. This will vary with the rise and fall of fuel. Plus, if you don't drive 12,000 miles a year you won't realize the full amount.
When I purchased my truck last year, Dodge was offering a $4500 rebate. With the rebate, I was $10K under MSRP plus tax, tags, etc.
The dynamics have change quite a bit in just a year!

With that $2.99 fuel thing you also give up the rebates! Dodge trucks around here have $4500 rebate and some dealers are advertising another $4K off. That is before you even hit the door and start negotiating. Shop long and hard and check the forums before you buy a new truck.
A 5.9 will also get you better economy over a 6.7 so take that into consideration too.

Looks like they gave me the wrong rebates. Its now $5000 plus $3000 dealer cash plus $250 of self-employed rebates. So that brings it to $12315 off the MSRP.
