Default Fuel filter housing too tight?

Trying to change the fuel filter and I can't get the filter top to come loose to get the filter out. The wrench wants to strip the nut, how can I get it loose with without messing it up? I don't have a socket big enough so I have to use my speed wrench.

Go get a socket big enough to take it off. If you try to use a 1/2" ratchet or something similar, you will crack the lid. Trust me, the socket is cheaper than the lid! The newer models did not have a way to use a 1/2" ratchet, you had to use the socket.

I used a crescent wrench and made sure it fit right

I got it, neigbor had a 1 1/8 socket but it still took some doing. I know I didn't tighten it that hard the last time.
