Default oil leak/leaks

ok i have always had oil under my truck but now its getting worse heres what i got. first off the crankcase breather hose leaks a considerableamount of oil the only time it stop is when it pushes about a quart out leaving the truck a quart low. since the crankcase breather hose leaks the fan slings it all over my coolant tank and my washer fluidtank is their a fix for the breather hose or does my truck have a bad problem i dont knw about? also i think i may need a crank seal not sure becuase of the breather hose slinging oil. i knw my rear main leaks alittle but its a drip here and their nothing bad. my problem is it leaks all over the front end of my truck in about a month my white rancho steering stabilzer is black? what can i do and what do you guys think?

I'd say you may have some weak rings or some going bad. You shouldn't have that much blow by. Some is normal but, losing a quart through the breather isn't !

You can do a compression test to verify this or, pull the head and have a look see yourself.

so pull the head and check things out? or should i replace the crank seal first? and then see what happens? also if i go thru the trouble of taking the head off should i go ahead and and put in new pistons and rings? or just rings?

for the age of your truck... sure it would be great to do a complete refresh which mainly consists of the bottom end.

The way to find out if it's going to be necessary to do anything is a compression test. Make an appointment with the dealer to do it.
If they find you have low compression then yes, it's time to pull the head. You first want to see if all the valves and cylinders are ok. Bad rings could cause scared cylinder walls. If you see that they're ok, then you can put it back together and tear into the bottom end. If they're scared.... you might as well tear the whole engine down, have the cylinders honed then install new pistons rings, main bearings, thrust bearings...etc. would all be something to do. As I said though... first the compression test.

well there you go. Wasn't sure if you were able. I agree with you 100%

According to the service manual, it's gonna take a few days to do. One cylinder at a time left to sit over night. If you go for it... let us know what you find out.

i have seen this on a truck that comes in my dad's shop but the guy is a farmer and could care less how much oil is on the front of the motor. he just adds it as needed! he actually just drilled a bunch of holes in his catch bottle so that it will drain out.

well it really bother me seeing as how ive got tons of money in my truck seems like im gonna have to sink lots more in it. yeah it sucks becuase my fan catchs the oil and throws it on the coolant recovery tank and my washer tank. explains why my truck doesnt feel as strong as it use to be even after i added the smarty on top of the edge haha
