Default help... peeling paint & cracked dash

I have a 1996 ram 2500 diesel 4x4 white with grey interior with 2 problems.

Paint: There are a couple of areas on the roof where the paint is starting to flake off. Is there anyone who knows how to stop this. Or does it need to be repainted if so is it covered under a TSB so dodge might pay for it?

Cracked dash: I have a large series of cracks in the top part of the dash board. Does anyone know if there is a replacement for just the top or do I need an entire new dash board. I do not want to put a dash rug on it, we want to keep the OEM look.

Thank you for any help you can provide

dodge has been taken to court for the paint peeling, some vehicles they repaired but yours is to old you'll get no help there, you can sometimes wet sand till the paint blends with the primer, but it sounds like it needs repainting, and the dash, never seen just a top peice its one big chunk.

DON'T WANT TO HURT YOUR FEELINGS, BUT GET USED TO IT OR REPAINT IT. THAT IS THE ONE FALL BACK OF OWNING A DODGE. IF THE PAINT IS NOT PEELING ON YOUR DODGE THEN IT WAS A MISTAKE. NO REALLY. DODGE ALWAYS USED THIS PRIMER THAT THE PAINT DIDN'T REALLY ADHERE TO. I HAVE SEEN VERY FEW DODGES WITH IMMACULATE PAINT.

I have a 95 Ram with the blue paint. The hood and top was peeling bad on it. I tried using touch up paint and it worked for a while. Didn't look that great but covered up the primer. I just had the hood and top stripped and painted. Looks really good now. My dash also cracked to, but I just bought a dash mat to cover it up and it ooks good to.

also the best thing to do is cover the exposed primer like chaud mentioned. regardless of what it looks like. primer retains moisture and will rot budy pannels to hell. The best thing to do is cover it before this happens. Use a prep. before you paint to get eny moisture or impurities out of the primer. Good Luck.

There is a company making a dash cap for these trucks. The company is called coverlay and the cap simply lays on top of the existing dash and looks factory. About $120 and well worth it.

I have a 96' Dodge Ram 1500 Sport black. The hood and roof is through the clearcoat and starting to peel and my dash board keeps emitting chunks of broken plastic! What awful quality but I must say that with 132K miles it's running like a champ. I need to replace 2 freeze plugs in the block but other then that it runs great.

I had a '97 , same problem ... My truck ran like a champ , but theres not enough touch up paint in the world to keep up with the flaking and peeling paint. Bite the bullet and repaint or do what I did... 2005

Geno's garage has a dash cover that goes over the cracks on the dash. as for the paintjob, the only thing I can think of is to get a new one.

I had a 92 peeling on the front fender and the top of the driver door.
The only part peeling was the clearcoat.
Tried to wet sand and primer it but the clearcoat kept peeling.
Had the truck repainted at One Day Paint and the truck looked better than the day I got it.
