Ok, so I'm only used to workin an exhaust brake on tractors. So my pick-up is an 02 auto tranny, and was wanderin if you can use the banks brake without the tranny lock, of is it really needed?

Check out BDdieselperformance for exhaust brakes, if you pull a lot with your truck you should have one. As for tranny lock its required to lock up torque converter when Exhuast brake is in use.

You need the tranny lock so it can keep you in gear while slowing. I love my Jake Brake ~ makes towing a breeze hills or not

Ok, thats what i figured, but I just wanted to double check. I plan to do alot of hauling. I drive truck full time, but on my down time i want to haul live stock close to home (out to 250 miles). So we will see how far that gets me. Thanks for the answers.
