looking into a cummins
i know i brought this up before a month or so ago, but im planning on buying a cummins sometime next year. now i know the 5.9 is better off than the 6.7, but unfortunatly they only offer the 6.7 and i would like to buy new rather than used. i just wanted to hear some input on the 6.7. i dont plan on doing anything to extreme to the engine. chip, exhaust and an intake are the plans for now. personally i want to hear the turbo whistle and i want her to blow black smoke out of the stacks. now as far as exhaust goes, i can remove the DPF? and if i can/do will it throw codes? and how to i fix that. like i said, im not the most knowledgeable in the diesel section, so i just want to hear some ideas from you guys.
well actually i was searching on autotrader and ran into quite a few 06 2500 with the 5.9 CTD in just about new condition. and i cant beat the price. i may just do that, wont have to worry about all the emission crap on a 6.7, and its basically new for a fraction of the price. i mean we're talkin $23k with 35k miles.for a diesel thats not even broken in yet!

. You'll be much happier with the 5.9.
30 - 40 thousand miles isnt any real wear and tear on a diesel right? like i said, i really wanted NEW but if i can find one that is pretty close and that has been taken care of, ill jump on it. the 5.9 will be able to do what i want to do right?

Slightly used ram 2500/3500 5.9 CTD's are hard to find @ a reasonable price, but they're out there! Just picked up my 2004.5 for $18,800 (after a few months of searching). Add sales tax and a good ext. warranty and you have an awesome truck that's just broken in for about 1/2 the price of a new one (they wanted $17,800 for my gas guzzlen' 2005 ram 1500 w/4.7, after the lease was up).
I'm happier than pigs in sh*t! The only bad thing is my credit score, the interest on my payments blows(12.7% ouch). Hopefully, we'll get that down ASAP!
