2003 Dodge RAM 3500 Diesel Hydolock
Can anyone tell me how much damage a hydolock can cause on a Cummins Diesel.
Last week I was drive my Ram about 35mph and all of a sudden the engine
started to make a lot of noise and vibration. then quite . would not start or even turn over. Like someone had stuck a iron bar between the crank. Can any one tell me what would have caused this. The dealer believes it is a Hydolock caused by possibly a crack injector or a head gaskit leaking coolent into combustion chamber head. Hope someone might be able to help me with this . Truck has 57k on it so is still under warrenty.
Thanks

Hydrolock is a very bad thing and if your truck is locked.... it's a complete rebuild you're looking at.
You may have overheated it and blow a head gasket which in turn filled one of the the cylinders with water. Once that happens the engine can't turn over. If it's forced to turn over you could easily bent rods and cause other damage.
Good luck

2003 Hydro Lock on my 2003 Ram 3500 4x4
I just found out yesterday from the Tech at the dealer that he had found a broken exhaust valve on #4. That was found after he pulled the Valve cover I guess. Could their be much more damage further down into the
cylinders or crank area?
Thanks
