Default 2006 ctd louder than other 2006 ctd

I went for a ride in a buddies almost identical 2006 ctd and it seems like his engine is alot quiter than mine we have close to the same miles (under 30K) on both are trucks. They are both 6 spds. What could be causing this?

Could you elaborate? Injector noise, valve rattle or turbo whine, etc etc?

My engine is louder than most third gens I encounter. It is kind of like a loose valve train kind of noise. I had the valves lashed and it didn't change. It does get somewhat quieter when I run 2 stroke oil at 200:1 ratio, but still slightly different then other trucks I've been around. I also had all 6 injectors replaced and that didn't change it either. The good news is it pulls like a freight train, and gets good mileage and I have 75K miles on her.

i'd look at it the way nickbeek does.. if it runs good, gets good mileage, and runs like a raped ape then meh.. but you're still under warranty wouldn't hurt to have the dealership run a diagnostic on it.

The noise I am hearing could be engine or injector noise, but it does run great and gets decent mileage. It just seems weird that its louder than others 5.9s I would make an appointment but the local dealer is a joke so I'll take my chances with it.

The noise sounds to me like it could be engine or injector. And the local dealer can't change oil without messing something up. So I think i'd rather take my chances with it the way it is.
