Which exhaust sounds better?
Hey guys I just want to get some honest opinions from people with experience in these two exhaust systems and which sounds better. It's between the Silverline 4" turbo-back and MBRP 4" exhaust without a cat. Both with mufflers just no cat and on a 3rd Gen CTD. I'm only interested in the sound and volume. So lets hear some opinions....which sounds better?

Well I cant help w/ your question exactly but, I can tell you that the new common rail engines don't sound near as good as the older 12 and 24 valves. I just traded my 01 that I had silverline 4'' straight through from the turbo back, and it sounded like a "big" truck. Well I got an 06 and ordered the same system for it and it sounded so bad (low rpm kakkle) w/ the muffler delete pipe on, that I took it off and put on the silverline supplied muffler. Man was I disappointed. It still sound like a gas V6 with a turbo muffler. If anyone has a solution please chime in. Sorry for the hijacked thread.

I'm getting pretty good at telling the 24V & 12V trucks apart - if they have close to stock systems anyways. 24V has more of a 'rattle' at idle/going slow. The newer common rails are too quiet (for me).
So no, you're not imagining things
I'm not much help on the original topic...I have 5" straight pipe on my dually. That sounds good...decent roar, but, I wouldn't say big truck-type roar.

My '03 does have the common rail, it was the first year for it. It is also the 24 valve, all the newer ones are 24 valve. The ones that were real loud engines are the 12 valves.
