Default Rumors about 2010 Duramax

Has anybody else read about this? 450hp and 750 ftlbs, with a 8sp auto or possiably even a 12 speed auto. I guess Chevy is done playin around. I wonder what kind of power upgrade the Cummins and Powerstroke are going to get to try and stay competitive. I don't think there even going to try. Ford and Dodge will be fighting for second place.

They can put a jet engine it and I still wouldn't buy one.
I regret buyin the one I got now . Man I miss my Dodge.
I bought this puppy a while back because it was cheap , and do to some unfortunate events had to part w/ my Cummins.
If Chevy is gonna put that much motor and gear in their truck, they're gonna pick a fight cause you know Ford and Dodge ain't gonna sit there and get be out of the diesel market.

So do you think Cummins is going to go away from the inline 6 in their heavy duty trucks, and go with a v6 or v8 design?

the v6 and v8 are for the 2010 or so ram 1500 that will have a light duty diesel option... as far as i'm aware the HD cummins will continue to be a I6

Sounds like urban legend to me. If there is little bit of truth to it get ready to spend $70K-$80K for it. Cause the rest of the drive line is not ready for that much power out of the box.

yea the v8 will fit both trucks, 1500 and 2500, but with the developement of the 6.7 just a few years old it will stay in the 2500 and up chassie. As for the durmax, the driveline is fine, theese trucks already hadle hundreds of horsepower over stock, and the allison as of now is good for about another 100, but to be safe they'll probly jrop in a stronger torque converter. I dop agree though, with more poer comes more price?? Pretty sure the 12 speed is a myth, 8 speed not likely, but who knows, Dieselpower mag even mentioned the rumer....asumeing thats where you got it from??

I was waiting for that answer. Yes people push a lot more power than that out of their GM trucks, BUT those same people also either upgrade their front ends and transmission or they break them. GM would not be able to offer any warranty without beefing up some week links in the drive line. So my answer still stands.

Back to the topic of Dodge trucks and the Cummins, there would be no problem at all with the Cummins keeping up or even one upping the other guys. Again though at what cost? The Dodge truck would also need some upgrades in the drive line to be reliable at those power levels.

Ya, I read this rumor out of Diesel Power mag. I have also read some stuff about the new heavy duty Dmax engine online. Online say's the same stuff as the mag. I did read somewhere (online) that the 8 speed trans in more than likely what the truck will get. I'm not a brand loyal kind of guy. To me, all the big 3 trucks have thire pro's and con's. But to even a die hard Dodge, or Ford guy, you have to admit, if these rumors are going to become facts, that's pretty impressive. I hate to say it, and I hope i'm wrong, but, I think Chevy is going to take over the heavy duty truck market. Their going to be in a class of thier own.

I totally agree with Nickbeek. yes you could run that much power on the stock driveline but there woudl be no reliability to it at all. maybe for smart drivers but for the general consumer no way they'd break something right quick

toyota had a concept of a full size HD dually that was supposed to be so bad *** cuz it could tow so much and it's components were so beefy..... yet they didn't advertise one thing the MSRP was getting really close to 90k or so.
