Default Boost drops to 0 during acceleration

The truck runs fine with no codes until I hit the throttle and the boost goes to about 15 lbs. and then is drops to zero and I here a pop when it drops. I'm guessing something is causing the waste to open prematurely, but I'm not sure how to figure out excactly what's causing it. I have X2 race box on the truck but it does it even when it's turned off. It's been running fine for about 103,000 miles. Any ideas what would cause the waste gate to open to soon? Is there a sensor that could be bad? Thanks for any suggestions.

Todd

Have you checked all the turbo hoses? Might have a small enough tear/hole which may open up enough at throttle causing the pressure loss? Try some soapy water in a spray bottle with engine running give the hoses/intercooler (check intercooler for "plastic" ends, been known to be weak) a spray.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure mine has steel ends. I will check for leaks. The funny thing is if I accelerate evenly and make the boost go slowler to 20 lbs. it will keep on going. It's only going to 0 when I push it to floor and the boost jumps quickly to 15 lbs and drops to 0 and it won't turn back until I let the off the throttle completely. I'm thinking it's something electronic not working right.

Think I may have had a "blonde" moment.... hows the power? Wondering if, if the power is still there/strong, then I'm thinking boost guage maybe hooped?

A pop? Everytime or just the once? If it happens everytime you are hitting at the top of your boost, you could be detonating. Check the plugs.
If its the wastegate, check the boost lines for leaks. Could also be that the spring inside is too weak.

when the boost goes to 0 so does the power. It just goes completely flat and the egt's start to climb really fast. I haven't got under the hood yet to check out to see if I have a leak. My suspicion is it's electronic that causes the waste gate to open pre-maturely.
