would help to know what truck year, 4x4 or 2wd?

block/choke wheels
disconnect batteries.
drain tranny/Tcase fluids.
put a jack under the engine to support it when removing the tranny.
remove drive shafts.
disconnect all wiring.
disconect cooler lines.
disconnect shift linkages.
remove inspection covers and remove bolts mounting TQ to flywheel/flex plate. (you will have to rotate engine "slowly" large screw driver pry on flywheel to spin flywheel so that you can get to each bolt holding the TQ to flywheel)
*if 4x4 remove transfer case first...the tranny and trans case gonna be heavy.
a good floor jack with a tranny carraige to hold tranny from falling off the jack.
slide tranny out remove TQ.
pre-fill new TQ before installing.
reverse steps to reinstall tranny.

have fun!

the TQ is bolted to the flywheel, dunno if that is the answer your looking for... but yes the TQ should come out with the tranny. make sure when you do get it seperated from the engine that the TQ is pushed all the way bak into the tranny, having the TQ hanging on the end of the shaft is not good, it may bend the shaft due to weight of the TQ.

there is 6 bolts that mount the tranny bellhousing to the engine...got them all? if not may have to lower the tranny jack and the engine jack slightly to get at the top bolts? Had to do this on the wifes 2001 chebby, used 24" long extensions on the ratchet drive to get at them.

Hope this helps bud.
