Default Leaking tranny oil through the inspection cover

Need some advice here: I am leaking oil through the inspection cover forward of the tranny pan and aft of the oil pan for the CDT. Started off kind of slow a few weeks ago and is now progressing into a pretty descent leak puddling over night. Any ideas what the problem is? I only have 34K on the truck and I don't abuse it. I run the edge w/ juice, intake, exhaust, over-size tires, etc, but I am too old for the burnouts and drag racing crowd. Just wanting to get an idea of what I am looking at before finding a shop. Thanks in advance.

Not to doubt you, but are we sure its tranny fluid or engine oil from the blow by tube? if its from the blow by and its excessive you might want to check your engine oil level see if its gaining and that might be a leaking injector.

SpLaT, no it's definitely not (1) diluted engine oil or (2) coming out the blow-by. It's coming from that inspection cover on the front of the bell housing...directly under the convertor. I am thinking that I have either cracked my convertor or the bell housing...but I have no idea how either of those wol dhave happened. I have low mileage and I really don't rod the truck. I do enjoy getting around folks on long passes through the mountains and using the torque to do that, but other than that I am drawing a blank. All I see right now is $$ signs. Bad time of the year to be seeing those.

06 , you should still be under warranty. I would guess it the front main bearing for the tranny shaft. Hopefully its under warranty if not $$$. If that is the cause its a fairly big job to replace it. Let us know.

I had the exact same problem as you. I thought it was tranny fluid leaking as well. Check your heater hose - there is a small rubber section almost directly above the bell housing. The hose clamp on mine was loose, causing fluid to drip on the side of the bell housing and into and around the inspection cover....couldn't tighten it up cuz it was a bad clamp so I had to replace it....no more leaks

sorry seattlestones, shoulda asked a few more questions... anywho russm may have hit the nail on the head ... trying to post a picture of that hose he talks of..

this looking up from passenger side.... tighten these clamps when engine is cool. also check the over flow return line at the rad see if you have a clamp on it, if not toss one on or do like I did, I used a zip tie!

i had the same problem as well, took it in to dealer, a month later, got it back. a seal went bad in tranny, had to tear it down and fix it, but once i got it back, no more leaky leaky. still under warranty? hope so! it took them a month to tear the tranny out, break down, repair and reinstall. but when they did that, they screwed up my transfer case, 4high wont stay in, so now i have to take it back in! thank god for warranties. just a heads up, hope it helps. dont let it go, i thought it was just a simple gasket or the drain plug was jacked up, but it was way bigger than that!!!!!!!!

splat and russm, you guys ROCK! That was precisely the problem (leaking anti-freeze). I didn't even think to look at my reservoir...I was so worried about dilution of the engine oil and tranny fluid. I saw your post, went and looked at the tank, crawled underneath and spotted exactly what your pic was of, and sure enough, the top band of the hose clamp was loose. I cranked it around a couple times. We'll see if it holds, but that was where my fluid was coming from. Thanks a million for your pic and your posts! I really appreciate it! r/Mike.
