Default Tightening a parking brake and what kind of oil to use.

I just purchased an 05 4x4 Laramie with Cummins and 6speed manual and I need to figure out how to tighten up the parking brake, the way it is now it does next to nothing when pressed in all the way. Sometimes I drive around and then notice I still have the parking brake engaged thats how loose it is.

Also, what kind of oil do these engines take? Is it any different then a gas? First time dodge AND diesel owner, so I am clueless. I want to put an Edge chip in it in the future, if that makes any difference. Synthetic or not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should use an engine oil that is rated CI-4+ or CJ-4. CJ-4 was designed for newer diesel engines like the 6.7L Cummins, but is also fine for older models.

I would suggest an Amsoil synthetic or synthetic blend oil. Their AME synthetic or PCO synthetic blend would be ideal for your engine. Check this link: http://www.amsoil.com/products/heavytrucks/index.aspx

Could you please explain what that means? I know what regular oil like 5w-30 means but what does CI-4 or CJ-4 mean? oh wait a minute, I think I remember C is for diesels, and J is the quality or something like that... and 4 is a group as in natural oil or synthetic... i just forgot what group was what though...

Am I right?

I am probably going to go with Royal Purple if they have the oil I need...
