Default Fire Ringed

I don't know much about diesel, and was wondering what it meant when the heads were fire Ringed? Also For a late model 5.9 what is the range for high egt's? and how much power can the NV5600 take before you start having problems?

Fire ringed is to have the cyninder head machined for a o ring for increased cylinder pressure to keep the head from leaking. This would be reguired for trucks running alot of boost. If your measuring at the exhaust manifold 1250-1300 is time to back off of it. You can peg about 1600 for an instant but if you hold it there you'll start to melt things. Measuring the temp after the turbo the numbers would be 200-300 degrees less. Most claim that the factory transmission will safely hold 60 horsepower over stock with no transmission upgrades. Some get away with more but alot depends on how yu drive.

FYI for the street o-ringing is more reliable than fireringing...

The NV5600 itself will hold quit a bit, easily over 600. The clutch, however, will slip far before then. South Bend makes the best clutches out there.

And Ive pegged my EGTs well over 1600 getting on the interstate, and she keeps going strong. But thats for a few seconds. DO NOT sustain egts above 1250. Sustained 1300 is even starting to push it...
