dose a cummins trans have the same bell houseing as a 318 or 360 gas. im wondering if i can bolt a cummins to a A-833 4 speed overdrive cuz the nv4500 will not fit in the truck that im trying to build and i dont want to go with an auto

I'm not sure but destroked cummins conversions makes adapters. They might be able to hook you up.

You can make any trans fit in anything. Going in the D150 Im guessing? Guys swap NV4500s into their 1st gen (89-93) Dodges all the time. Same body. So whats not allowing it to "fit?"

So just change the trans tunnel. Cut it out and fab one or go to a junkyard and get one out of a manual truck. I honestly dont know that the A833 will take the torque of a Cummins...maybe for awhile but itd take a crap eventually. The NV4500 is better suited for a diesel

thats what i was thinking but ive seen that trans behind some some hopped up 440s. i would like to use it and put a pistle grip on it. this trans was in a 440 car i would be more causish if it came from a 318 or slant 6 car but im not going all out on the engine this truck is mainly go to be a cruzier it not going to work accually its not set to tow any thing anyways the rear is to high its has 3.2s in it

You gonna turn up the Cummins any? I realize the 833 is pretty stout behind gassers, but its rare that a gasser makes the torque a diesel does, and thats whats gonna break stuff....if the diesel is left stock, your around 400 some-odd ft.-lbs tq. Turn it up even a little and you could easily be well over 600+. And that will trash a trans in no time. Just food for thought...
