cummins dpf and fuel milage questions
[B]hello im inquiring about the fuel milage with a 08 dodge 3500 with the 6.7l 6sp manual tranny and 4:10 gears! and also how can the new emissions filter be removed and it not affect the trucks performance? i live in ky so we arent reqd to have state inspections! just didnt know if i could put a str8 pipe on it or not! im farmiliar with the 12v but not this new stuff. any help or advice?
Your lucky to get 15 on the highway. Ditch the DPF and block off the EGR. Do turbo back exhaust, either straight piped or put in a muffler. The two biggest DPF delete companies are H&S and BADP...theres 5 points in the new exhaust that dont help it much. Theres basically a cat in the downpipe, then the regular cat, then the DPF, the muffler, and then maybe a resonator. So you definately want a turbo back exhaust to get rid of the restriction in the factory downpipe

Some of the kits arent code-free andthrow a soft code that will shoe a CEL. Get an Edge Juice w/ Attitude or BullyDof PMT to clear the code on startup. H&S has a new downloader they just came out with that is supposed to be code free and will do the typical things a downloader does (adjust for tire size, add power, etc.) Apparently later this spring they will have a 200+hp tune available. This downloader would eliminate the fooler boxes that existing kits use to fool the computer into thinking the DPF is still in place.
