I am looking to make a purchase to a F450 or Ram 4500 this month for Landscaping, Snow plowing etc. I know the cummins have always been good motors but Dodge's trans have always been an issue when worked hard. How are the new Aisin trans holding up. How do you use your truck and how many miles. I did hear the new cummins like all companies are having trouble with the dpf etc... True?
Not only are the aisins holding up well, but the 68re in the diesel pickups are holding up well also. Don't fear the transmission, now you have to worry about egr sooting problems and trouble with the dpf they put in the exhaust system now.
the Aisin is a great transmission! Most guys in the know would place it a couple levels above the 68re. to bad they don't offer the aisin in the 2500 & 3500.
even if the trans in the rams where crap id rather have that then the 6.4 powerstroke blowin up on me. a fellow landscaper in my town bought a new 6.4 PS a couple years ago and it blew up around 5k miles. i think ford gave him a new truck. the new ram HDs are nice!!
