Default Keep my 5.7 Hemi or get a 2500 CTD?

I have a 2008 Laramie 1500 Quad with a 5.7 Hemi and I was think about trading it in for a 2500 CTD. What are you thoughts?

Questions.
1. Is the MPG better for a CTD
2. Is their more power in the CTD

I got my truck for dirt cheap and I think i can almost get as much for it as I bought it for or at least from what I'v seen for KBB trade in value. I go it for 21,900 and I've had it quoted on KBB for 20,000. I'm guessing I can get a 2500 Laramie for around 25,000 or slightly more.

If your into towing and hauling the Cummins cant be beat.
I don't think there will be a huge difference in MPG unless towing though.

im stock and getting about 18-20mpg combined...alot of guys on here are getting low to mid 20's with exhaust, intake, chip. if you do get a CTD...be warned...you'll never want a gasser again. CTD's are absolute beasts.

Empty, the hemi and CTD are so close in mileage, start towing and the CTD will use the same amount of flue empty, or towing.

The 2500 is just a better truck than a 1500, even with the hemi the 2500 is a beast that has limits, the CTD is a beast with no limit's

So if you want to pay to play, the CTD is for you!!!

I would say get the CTD! I went from a 5.9 gas to a 5.9 CTD and ill never go back. i get better MPG and way more power. plus there is so much more you can do to a diesel.

I just sold me 2008 2500 Hemi to get a 2008 2500 Cummins boyh are Laramies. The Hemi would get about 12 mpg in town and the Cummins is 18 mpg in town. Just did a 230 mile trip towing my 13' box trailer with one cord of fire wood going 65-80 most of the time and got 19.1 mpg. The Cummins has so much more power then the Hemi and you don't have to wind the **** out of the motor to make it go fast.

Man, that's the truth!

I've only got a little over 3,000 miles on my 2009 Ram 3500 with 3.73 gears and I have averaged 14 mpg combined. I did get 20 mph during a 150 mile trip last month though (all highway miles).

How much did you sell your Hemi for and how much did your CTD cost you.

This thread is of real value to me, since I'm going through the same thing with an older truck. I was looking at trading my '06 1500 5.7 in for an '06 2500 CTD. What really surprised me was the trade in they offered was about $5K more than I expected...so now I'm giving it serious consideration. Does the CTD trucks have a larger fuel tank than the 26 gallon I have on my 1500?

I think in the long bed its a 34 gallon tank it may be less in a short bed.
