Power steering fluid leak - need help diagnosing.
Hi all,
I'm trying to diagnose a power steering fluid leak. The gear box has been changed. I've replaced the OEM clamps with standard hose clamps. Still dripping. Leak itself is very slow, a few drops per day if that, so still drivable. Although I'm worried about having it go while on the road.
I've managed to trace the fluid up to the area around the pump and reservoir. The bottom of the reservoir and pump are visibly wet. Especially near where the reservoir joins with the pump. Also, the reservoir itself seems to be loose. I can wiggle it in its bracket about 1/8 inch in either direction. Is that normal? Could this be as simple as tightening the reservoir?
Is it worth trying to replace seals in the pump? Can you?
Or should I just pickup a replacement pump since they are fairly short money?
If it is just replacement time, any suggestions on brands?
Thanks in advance!

Finally decided to bite the bullet and just change out the power steering pump and reservoir. Figured that if I attempted to pull apart the pump and reservoir and change out any o-rings or gaskets, I'd run the risk of damaging something anyway. For just about $100 through RockAuto, I got a pump/reservoir complete assembly. two and a half hours worth of effort and $30 for a PS Pully puller from Advance Auto and no more leaks (knock on wood).
Dang, I love my truck!

Help my 2001 stratus power steering is leaking fluid ,as long as I top the fluid it drive good but when I park the car all of the fluid just drain out I don't have that much money to have it check so maybe you can probably tell me if this is a serious problem ,and if a danger if I still drive it like that and keep putting fluid.
