Smile whats the biggest tire I can get on my stock 2006 4x4 quad cab diesel big horn

Hi guys, i may be missing the info somewhere else, but here goes. I would like to get bigger tires for my stock 2006, 2500 diesel, quad cab, 4x4, big horn edition . What is the biggest tire i can fit, can i get 305 75 r17s or no? and whatever tire might fit what is the best to correct the speedo. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Robert

They will fit but may slighly rub the control arm at full lock. I'd go with it the worst is that you live with the rub, get a 2" spacer or use it for a reason to get new whells. I think a true speed is about 200 bucks. For a little more you could get a Smarty Jr. that will adjust for tire size and give you a little bump in power.

By the way I run nitto 305/70/17 on stock 8" aluminum whells with 2 inch Kore springs and they don't rub at all. I'm not sure of the width differance between a 75 and a 70.

Default Thanks so much

Hey BassMaster thanks for responding to my question. Your help is greatly appreciated. this forum is a great place for info. I guess i will go with the 70s i cant imagine their is any great diffeence between the two sizes. As far as new wheels I dont even begin to know what to get? Too many to choose from.

Default Tire help

the tire size 305/70/r17 means the wheel/hole in the tire, is 17inches. the 305 is the width of the tire in millimeters. the 70 means that from the bead to the outside of the tread is 70% of the width, so going with 75's is actually probly 15mm more both above & below the wheel. there is a pretty good difference from 70-75. hope this helps.

another option for correcting speedo is the dealer. my old truck was a chevy & the dealer said they could correct for 30minutes labor, which is what? 30-40bucks. If you want the speedo right, but not wanting to chng programming, i'd call the local dealer & ask.
