Transmission Housing ???

Transmission Housing ???
Hey guys, I'm a 2nd gen gaser but my friend was asking me about a broke "transmission housing cover" on a 7.3L PSD. I for one have never heard of such a thing and he says the truck can't be driven until fixed. Any opinions are welcome
