Question How to find the 5.9L H.O.

Where do i look on the truck to find out if it has the 5.9 HO? VIN engine codes are all C's, on the 06-07 models.
--CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SET ME STRAIGHT ON THIS?

IIRC (and I may not) all after the early 03's were considered HO. In 04.5 models and up with the 5.9 they went to the 600's (meaning they had 600 lb/ft vs the 555 of the earlier HOs)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I just got my 03 a few weeks ago and am still learning the specs of the different models.

On my 07 the rating is on the side of the valve cover.

Thumbs down Really, no one else knows?

Really, no one else knows how to identify the h.o.
Then is this ho the same as 5.9l i6 dir? I see alot of that online.
Ive seen plenty of pictures of engine bays and nothing on the valve cover.

This is driving me crazy not knowing.

Every Cummins 5.9 that I've seen from '93 to the present has the HP rating on the valve cover. There is a nice plate/sticker that gives a bunch of engine info. It is usually towards the front of the engine on the drivers side. If you are just trying to find out what was offered in 06 and 07, they are both the same until you get to the 07.5 with the 6.7L.

all motors past 04.5 are ho motors... if you have a motor sitting on the ground and do not know what it came out of, do a visual on the valve cover and look for the 305 or 325 hp designation on the label. if there is no label, you can do a visual comaprison against a known ho motor...

Smile Thanks fellas

So a sticker or horse power rating on the valve cover.

Can any one tell me if there was a standard output 305HP version for 06-07?

Thanks for the info.
