Default 6.7 exhaust change

Ive got a 08' 6.7L. I would like for it to sound a little better and im thinking about putting an RBP exhaust on it. but the problem is i don't want to waste the money in havin to buy an EGR/DPF delete kit. "Atleast not right now". i don't care if it turns my engine light on i just don't know what it will do to the egr and other components if I do change the exhaust without the delete kit. Whats the harm? if any. if you all could help me out with this that would be great. Thanks.

Do you mean you want to put on a RBP system that goes on behind the DPF, or a "turbo back" system? If you retain the DPF and catalyst the sound actually won't change very much, since the stock muffler is really more of a resonator. If you remove the DPF and catalyst without using a "DPF delete kit" your engine will continue to go into regeneration mode, which wastes fuel since there is nothing to regenerate.

My plan is to put a straight pipe in the place of the DPF and cat. and just get the RBP cat back exhaust it would be cheaper but it's pretty much like going turbo back. but as far as no delete kit is the only harm that it will waste fuel? because im tryin to save up enough for a delete kit but for now i would just like for it to sound good. and go ahead and change the exhaust. Thanks again for the help.

You can get a delete kit from H&S for as little as $299. A DPF-back exhaust kit from RBP is $699. Performance and dollar wise, you would be better off doing the delete kit and leaving everything else stock. The kit includes O2 sensor bungs and EGT modules.

If you replace the DPF and cat with straight pipe, you definitely get a check engine light code. I don't know if it will ever go into limp mode because of this.
