Default 2500 versus 3500 (confirming something)

Well, I've sold my '06 1500 gasser, and am now looking for a '06 2500 CTD. But while looking at one, I spotted another '06, this one a 3500. It's really equipped more like I want, and seems to be in good shape. I've did a little internet searching, and from what I've read the difference between the 2500 and 3500's is actually fairly minimal...and in looking at the specs I would agree. But I would like to hear from the real knowledgeable folks...is there much difference between the 2?

2500 = 3/4 Ton
3500 = 1 Ton

Stiffer springs are the only difference.

As Scott91370 said, the only difference is the suspension unless it is dual real wheels.

I agree the 3500 has overloads, I don't think the 2500 does.

Yup, unless the 3500 is a dually the only differance is the overload spring on the 3500's rear leaf pack. Same suspension otherwise, same axles, same engine/tranny, same frame, ect.

I own both, and I would suggest sticking with the 2500. The ride is alot better, and there is no need to step up to a 1-ton unless you need it.

Get the 1 ton. Even though the only difference is a overload spring. The GVWR and GCVWR is higher. You never know if someday your going to want to pull a really big 5th wheel trailer that has allot of pin weight. You'll want the higher payload capacity that a 1 ton has for legal reasons, not because a 2500 won't do it. I bought a 2500 and now i'm kicking myself in the arss for it it. I have a 2007 quad cab short bed 5.9 auto 2500. I should have bought a that same truck in a 3500 dually with 4:10's. If your going to by a heavy duty truck, don't buy the lightest duty version of it.

When I got my 3500. I was looking for a 2500 but the 3500 ended up being about 5 grand cheaper than the 2500 in my area.
