I have never seen this badge on a back of a Dodge Ram 2500 newer one
it had Cummins engine but there was a badge on the tailgate that said BLUE TECH.
Anybody got a clue what motor that is
I was on the phone with a guy he said its a California truck well he had Mississippi plates.
Is that just a CTD with cali emissions?

 

All the 08 and up diesel trucks have exhaust after treatments to filter out unburned fuel particulates and reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx)
Daimler calls this BluTec.
Not sure when they put the badges on the trucks. You'll probably see the badges on Mercedes, Jeep, Audi and Volkswagen products also.
Its not just for California.

 

Yeah i looked it up at work today. I just never seen anything about it. Even though I work on Cummins engines all day long. But they are industrial engines. NO emissions crap except for a few on road kalmar spotters that we have running around

 

My 2009 Ram 3500 has the "BlueTec Diesel" badge on the tailgate and I (thankfully) don't live in the PRK.

 

The Blue tec has the urea tank on it. If I'm not mistaking. If the dodge blue tec is like the mercedes then it won't crank but 8 times after the tank is empty.

 

my 07 is a bluetech

 

I don't think urea injection starts until 2010.
The urea injection is called AdBlue
