Default just bought a 2008, mega cab, cummings

Just wanted to say I moved up, from a 2004, Dodge Ram 1500, slt, 4x4 3.92 gears, to a 2008, mega cab, diesel, 4x4, 6-speed auto trans, with camper shell, bed liner with 18,000 miles on it. After replacing 2 rearends on the hemi truck, I hope this truck will pull my 26 foot toyhauler, @ 6,600 lbs starting weight (then add my toys, kids).

I do have a superchip, for the hemi.

SWEET dude Welcome to the REAL TRUCKS few pointers for you if you use it as a daily driver every once in a while you have to RUN IT HARD with a heavy load to clean the particulate filter out in the exhaust. Change your fuel filter, oil regularly and you should be ok
Your trailer weighs 6,600 lbs wow that's a light load for that truck. I have a 04 3500 4x4 quad cab I have hauled 21k on a 5th wheel trailer I noticed that it was there.
hope you enjoy your new truck

Congrats on the new truck! Welcome to the forum. Not trying to bust your hump or anything, but the engine in your truck is a Cummins, not a CumminGs.

Read your owners manual, the newer diesel engines do require you to use them for their intended purpose (working) if you daily drive it and never work it you will have issues with the emissions equipment.

Thanks guys about the information. I mainly bought it to haul my kids and tow the trailer. Sorry about the typo on the engine name. I caught it after I sent it out.

I just noticed you live in CA. Does it have California emissions? What is the Horsepower rating on your engine? It will be on the serial tag on the valve cover.
sorry I'm being nosy
Thanks Pizzo

I have an 08 Ram 2500 Cummins. The dealer said Dodge has just changed software to cycle the regen more frequently. I spoke with the mechanic and he said Dodge was concerned the engine was having problems for daily drivers. We may lose a small amount of mileage.

hummm SMALL amount??????? that's funny most of the people complain about the mileage NOW. Losing any more that will be even worse. People will stop buying dodge and get other brands the problem is they are all just as bad.
