Need help with a oil control problem
I have a 1999 2500 5.9L Cummins 4X4, which I enjoy taking off road. The problem I noticed was if the truck is put in a nose down attitude approaching 45 degrees or greater (I know that's pretty steep, but its fun too) the oil breather hose at the front of the motor starts spewing oil. I lost about 3-4 quarts in less than 2 minutes. Also, the pick-up isn't getting the oil either. I take it the oil pan on this motor isn't baffled but I don't think that would be a problem if I could keep all the oil in the motor.
Does anyone know of a kit or a fix for this problem?

all of your oil is running in to the gear train then the gears are pushung it out the breather, without going to a different style breather (like the 12 valves) the only thing that you can really do is turn the breather upside down, then run a breather hose from it,along the valve cover then down the the back side of the engine, dumping somewhere around the starter area...

dodge actually has a kit where you do away with the front breather kit on this and retrofit it to the old side of the block(tappetcover) breather system. they knew there was a problem but not many have this usually mining truck or certain types of vehicles have this. redirecting it only puts the oil back further so if you continue get the old style tappet cover to vent it out the side of the block not out the front ok
