Default Digital Monitors / Gauges

I don't have any performance upgrades, except for the Edge Mileage Max. But i still want to be able to monitor my EGT, boost, and trans. temp. I don't want the hassle of 3 different gauges in pods. i don't plan on adding any performance upgrades except for an air intake. would a monitor work well for me? does anyone have any suggestions?

monitor I am getting gauges myself. the three gauges will give you trouble you loose that handle on the drivers side. Since I use the handle. I am having a three pod made out of another post with handle i bought. its costing me a pretty penny BUT I think it will be worth it. since your looking stuff www.doghousediesel.com he has the BEST prices dude. I am serious I have looked around and for the money that you spend its just better to buy from him. Just tell him Pizzo sent you from DF. Also if you get that stuff from him and since you live close if you need a hand installing it I will drive down on a saturday and help out anyway possible.
Also buy the time I am done I could have bought programmer but I already have one that don't monitor anything

If you just want a stand alone monitor, here's what I'd recommend.

http://www.edgeproducts.com/product....pvname=Insight

It has all the same features and monitors as the Attitude does when combined with the Edge Juice, but this is a stand alone monitor.

If you want it mounted on the pillar and want to keep your grab handle, here's the mount you want. It's the one on the far left in the picture and it simply goes over your existing a-pillar.

Here's another option.....

http://www.quadzillapower.com/produc...ex.cfm/p/Scout

Nice thing about the Quadzilla Scout is that you monitor fuel pressure with the add-on kit.

Or, you can use this too.....

The only thing that isn't read through the OBDII port is the EGT's. That's the only conenction that you need to drill and tap for.

sweet, yea i was looking at the Edge insight earlier. Does the EGT thermocouple install into the monitor, or is there more to it?

Plugs right into the port on the monitor.

It's got it's own connector, so you can't just use a standard K-type thermocouple.

I have the same question. Does anyone know if the transmission temperature is available at the OBDII port?

Yes, the tranny temp is available via the OBDII port.....

Not with a standard tranny temp gauge, but the Insight, Scout, Outlook, etc., all monitor tranny temp through the OBDII.

Thanks for the info. That's what I needed to know. The standard tranny temp gauge must use a thermocouple installed in the tranny line somewhere.

Since we're on the subject of gauges, is there a way to get accurate EGT without tapping into the exhaust manifold? An easier alternative?

Nope, gotta tap.

Drilling and tapping is easy and isn't as involved as folks make it out to be.

It's just a matter of pre or post turbo.

Pre-turbo is the best spot for performance and actual monitoring. Post-turbo is best for monitoring exhaust brakes and cool down timers.
