Default what engine oil does everyone use

just did my first oil change on my new to me 05 CTD 5.9 24v. The only synthetic other then expensive amsoil was 15w50. Is this ok to run?? I know 15w40 is the best to run, has anyone used 15w50 before??

the expensive amsoil is worth the money esp in the north....if you tow i would run the amsoil 15w-40 (amsoil) if you dont tow real heavy as in a major 5th wheel i would run the 5w-30 amsoil ......

Only the best for my Dodge. Amsoil 15-40 year round, along with a FS2500.

I used to run Amsoil, and it's damn good stuff, but with shipping on top of the price, it was just too expensive. I now run Shell synthetic 15/40. I seem to have gained a little oil pressure.

I really like it. It takes less room than the Amsoil set up thats why I went with it. Easy clean install.

Default Use Rotella

Use rotella synthetic diesel. Price is not bad from Walmart and I saw a mileage increase after changing to it.

Valvoline 15w40. Its recommended for cummins. And Mobil1 filter cause its easier to remove/install then fleetguard.
