Default 4bt cummins.

Howdy diesel guys. I have recently discovered what a 4bt cummins is. i was wondering if there is anyone with info on them. i've seen on the power scale what can be done, and whats average. but i would like to know more about transmissions that can be used, gas mileage, would it be worth a swap (i was thinking about swapping my 3.9l v6 for the 3.9l 4bt cummins), things of that nature. and if someone has done a swap you know things to go with it like whats needed etc.

thanks guys

The 4BT is the exact same as the 6. It uses the same bore stroke injectors and you could use the normal transmission from the 6 and it will bolt right up with no adapter plate because it is basically the same block just minus 2 cylinders.

Yup, anything that will fit a 12V will fit a 4BT, except stuff like the injection pump, cam and crank.

A 46 or 47RH would bolt up perfectfly behind it.

Your best bet in finding one are old bread trucks and delivery vans. They were very common in those.

If done right, 450 HP is doable out of a 4BT without going nuts on it.
