Default Click sound when brake is engaged

When I engage the brakes in park and the truck is on it clicks once and sounds like it is in the instrument cluster and then clicks again when disengaged. It does not do it when in gear. Any help on this. It just started today.

maybe the gear shifter release switch could be making noise..
is it Auto Transmission?

that is a safety feature that won't allow kids to pull the gear shifter out of park into gear.. your foot has to be on the brake pedal for you to remove from park when you press the brake pedal you are hearing the switch releasing the lock...
hope that helps

It just started and it is coming from inside the truck in the steering column or instrument panel. Any other ideas?

More than likely it's just the brake pedal position sensor.

Just look under the dash and push the brake with your hand. There is a small metal rod that goes to the brake pedal. As soon as you start to push the brake and it moves an 1/8" or so, it activates the sensor.
