Default What to look for in a used Cummins powered Ram?

I'm looking into buying a '04 Ram 3500 QC Dually LB with the 5.9L Cummins w/ 147k on it.

I've have an older ram 2500 V-10, so am a little familiar with them, just not the diesels.

What are some of the things to look for/at?

Take a look at the VIN. On my 2500Ram, I have a 2004.5 model with the 5.9 that is a little different than the earlier production 2004.

See if the owner has a log book showing proof of maintance. See if you can find out what the owner used the truck for (heavy towing, show, etc.). Any programmers used?

We'll be crossing the first 100,000 mile thresehold this weekend. The only things that have needed replacement were U-Joints, Ball Joints, Brakes/Rotors, muffler, and tires. Basicly normal wear and tear stuff.

Hope you found a keeper.

Check ball joint if they haven't been changed recently go with once u can grease.

Actually I picked it up last night and it is a 04.5.

From all the little service stickers and tags on everything, looks like it was maintained pretty well.

Going to do fluid changes this weekend, along with filters.

Thanks for the advice.

Heh, oh yeah, thought I forgot something...

This is the dealer's stock picture of the truck.

04.5 Dodge Ram 3500

Weather's been gloomy since I brought it home, so haven't had a chance to get my own pictures taken.
