Thumbs down Bad U-Joint in 36k

My 2nd new truck, both 2500 dodge, this 06 threw a u joint in 36K just out of warr.
The dealer said "that's about when the back one goes" we do allot of these..WTF ??
This is BS, there are 5 more, I have no confidence towing a toy hauler I just bought.
My last 98 2500 went 200k without a joint going, and I bought it with a boss V plow.
This truck does no work, the dealer said its centrifical force..??
gravity and centrifical force hasn't changed in the last 3 years that I know.
Frustrated.

that doesnt sound right at all... i have never seen a u-joint go bad that fast in one of these trucks. my 98 also has over 200k on it along with a lift and about 1200 ft. pounds ot torque, and still on the original joints, must have been a bad install

I so understand I changed the front Axle shaft U joints at 47k. I don't use the front axle but a few times a year. it stresses when turning but still. It sucks but what can you do? Just have nice grease able u joints installed every oil change shoot it with grease.

The AAM drive line in our trucks has some room for improvement. I replaced all three joints in my rear drive shaft needlessly a while back, chasing a drive line vibration. I now have 119K miles on my truck and I just did a front axle u-joint last week. I have never been a fan of sealed for life bearings or u-joints. On the bright side I have 119K miles on all the remaining u-joints.

If a guy has limited faith in the Joints, and thinks they need grease, and is towing a heavy Toy Hauler 3000 miles,
Im thinking of drilling a small hole .040 thru each cap, greaseing it, and plug the hole with a tooth pick .010 larger than the hole.
Everything to gain, nothing to loose. The only risk is a metal shaving going inside.no grease is worse.
In 6 months, I'll drill thru the wood to re grease, if wood gets inside, it will be ground up.
What BS, It was an obvious attempt to screw each customer a grand and remove confidence in the truck.
What good did it do ? They are broke anyway.
Happy Thanksgiving.
I have much to be thankful for, and,,its not a ford.

i replaced one joint at around 30k a second around 40k there non greaseable they just burn up the grease and dry out.. you have to remember how heavy the trucks are. theres alot of stress on them.. all manufactures are leaning away from parts thatrequire maint.. maint free batterys i work for vw nothing not a single part has a grease zerk if you had the same joints but greaseable theyd prolly last forever. i put grease zerks on my ball joints now the 2nd set has lasted 30k with no play instead of just 13k
