Lift pump problems were fixed before '06, so thats not it. YES get the code reader. Even with no light there should be a fault code.

You can check the codes your self. Begin with the key in the off position, turn it to on (not start), off, on, off, on rapidly. Look at the odometer. Any codes present will show up there. When the system check is done the odometer will read like this ----done----. Write down any codes and let us know what you find. Even though the lift pumps were moved to the tank in '05 they can and do still fail. Also when did you last fill up? Fuel gauges can stick too and show you have fuel when you don't. Another possibility is that the fuel filter is clogged. Did you fill up recently at a different station? You can drain some fuel from the filter to a) see if there is fuel there, and b) see if it has contamination in it.

Was the security light on the lower right side of the dash blinking?

A start and then die condition is usually the security system.

It'll start for a few seconds then die, start, die, start, die, etc.

More than likely it's a weak battery in the key fob.

i did notice the security light on but did not know it was the security light.
i threw the star mobile on it and throughout all the modules i got a code for "lost communication to security control module". i wrote down the code number but i do look up where this module is. hopefully it was just a fluke any body have this problem???

It's usually associated with a failure to communicate with ECM or TIPM.

I just had a customer in the shop that I had to take his truck to the dealer due to this. Ended up having to replace the TIPM.

we;; it did not set a code in tipm
the code was in ccn( cabin compartment node or cluster) and seveal other modules
but not in gateway or pcm or tipm.. it hasent happened since and its been about a week so il just hope it was a glitch and will be fine for now... if it happens again i will pursue things further.
