Default first gear slip

So after my truck warms up first gear seems to slip and the truck doesn't start to move till I'm around 2000rpms. When it's cold it moves fine around 1200 or so. But other than that the truck drives fine. Shifts done up through the gears and down shifts fine too. Not sure what this means. Hoping it's not that first is on it's way out. But if so what can I do?

oh no... is this the truck you just bought? the only thing i can think to start with is a fluid flush and filter change, could be the filter is getting cloged, but also with the pan off, you will be able to see if there is any pieces in the bottom... other than that it could also be a converter issue too

ahh yeah it is.....

well i did some testing today and found that its not first that seems to be the problem. whats happening is when i start the truck warm or cold and put it in drive it goes fine. no slip. as i drive up the road and it goes through the gears it shifts fine. then when i come to a stop it only goes down to second. even if i manually put it in first. could this just be a shift solenoid?

on a side note i checked the fluid today and found that it was dirty and a quart low. topped it off and plan on doing a filter/fluid change this week.

anyone have thoughts on this?

possibly I'm not the greatest person in the world about our transmissions the model number is a 48RE... I thought the shift solenoid was bad it would haunt from gear to gear and not know what gear to be in. But I am not sure I don't know much about the trans in our truck
We have the same trans I have a 2004.5 3500

You are getting second gear starts.

It's most likely the governor solenoid in the trans. I would replace the pressure transducer at the same time since they are side by side.

It's an easy fix in the driveway and you must get the parts from Dodge.
