Default Cummins muffler opinions

I have a 2007 with the 5.9 with the 6 speed. My truck is used for work, heavy hauling of a 4 car trailer all day long. Has 150000 miles on it and i am looking to switch out the stock muffler for one with more flow.
My question is this

i am looking at the banks monster muffler
or will running straight pipe hurt my torque and horse power?

Fearless,

I might be able to save you a nice chunk of change on that muffler.

I have a customer that ordered a Magnaflow Direct Fit muffler, but he has a 2004 and that exhaust is only 3.5", so it doesn't fit.

He is sending the muffler back to me and getting a full 4" system for the truck. The muffler isn't used, it was just opened up.

Let me know if your interested.

This is the kit he ordered.....

I would but wouldn't I be down sizing since I have factory 4 inch exhaust already.

That muffler is a 4"

The 2003 - 2004 Cummins have a 3.5" exhaust so the muffler is too big for his truck.

On yours it's the right size.

That looks very similar to the muffler replacement that I used a while back. You will like what it sounds like under load, there is NO drone, and it is very mild mannered when not on it hard which is nice for driving through the neighborhood. Don't go straight pipe if you tow heavy, the drone in the cab between 2100 - 2400 rpm is unbearable!

Ever notice all decent freeflow mufflers look the same =].. btw you wont be loosing any torqe or HP. the turbo gives enough back pressure. And oh yeah..

Merry Christmas to all

They look the same on the outside......

It's like I mention to folks buying exhausts, there's only so many ways to make a tube.

The internals on all the aftermarket manufacturers vary GREATLY though.

From quietest to loudest, this is what I normally see.

Stock (obvious)
Diamond Eye
Hushpower
Magnaflow
MBRP
Corsa
Silverline
Straight Pipe

The internals on them range from looking like a cheese grater to small perforations to inverted cones to crazy looking airfoils, etc....

Sounds good.

Just let me know whenever you're ready.

It's boxed up and ready to go.
