Default 98 5.9 deisel stops running on it's own

Been reading a ton of posts here 'learnig about the vp44 pump etc. Great info Thanks to all. I'm wondering if this could be my problem maybe you have some ideas. my 98 5.9 2oo k 's does stop on it's own somtimes either while idleing or driving but it never runs badly I just restart it, it idles fine , never loses power sometimes a check engine light comes on usually it does'nt if it does it goes out by itself after a bit Could this still be a pump problem ?
or something else I'm hoping to find out before it does any damage thx in advance

Never let the truck loose fuel pressure, thats what keeps the vp44 pump cool. There a fuel pump update for all diesel trucks. You do need to remove the fuel/gas tank, to perform this update. and flash the PCM too. The PCM flash is also part of the update.
