The thing sounds like a jet taking off from a carrier deck.
yea, the AFE stage II is what ive been wanting for a long time, but im afraid of buying it and having it be super loud and the boss hating it. worse case scenario is i could just go back to stock right? is the afe relatively quiet when your foot isn't in it?

If you leave the silencer ring in, it's not that bad.

With the silencer ring removed, it friggin screams.

That's the intake I had on my truck before putting the twins in.

With out the silencer ring, it's FAR louder than my twins are.

With the ring in, it's comparable to them.

I have a 06 dodge with an AFE intake. I have had so many ppl tell me to remove the silencer ring and I have had the intake off so many times. I can even get the ring to move let alone get it off. I have tried using a smaller pick to get in behind it and just gave up because the pick would start bending and I didn't want it to break and fall off in the turbo. =(

Were you pulling on the silencer ring or the snap ring that holds it in.

Easiest thing to do is use a flat blade screw driver and pry up on the end of the snap ring until it comes out of th groove.

From there it's simple, it just pops out.

dont worry hiperf...i have tried 3 times to get my silencer ring out, but i can't get the snap ring to budge either. i have used the smallest flathead i can (that wont break)...sometimes 2 of them. no luck.

if it's relatively quiet with the silencer in, then i will just do that. it still has a noticeable difference though, right? i mean, i need some more whistle in my life!
