Default Would this setup work?

I want to make my turbo louder and let her breathe a little more, but I don't want to buy a CAI just yet. Can I get an aftermarket intake tube that doesnt have the baffling in it like our stock tubes and add an amsoil drop-in filter? Would this make the turbo sing a bit louder? Does anyone foresee any problems that this may cause?

I know a CAI is the best way to go, but i'm going to hold off for now. I also don't want to de-baffle my stock tube in case I want/need to put it back on for some reason.

Make her sing by opening up your exhaust, you can always make your own intake with a giant cone and some piping

AFE has just the tube portion, but......

You can use a piece of PVC pipe and use the two rubber elbows that are there now.

Works just fine.

Then add whatever filter you like.

Most guys that do something like this go with a Wix #422790 or Napa 2790 filter....otherwise called a BHAF (Big Honkin Air Filter)

Pull that silencer ring and that'll make 'er sing.

What he said, i can vouch for the 2790 as ive had it in my last 3 trucks.

It's alot cheaper and alot more effecient than what you are proposing.

I got the AIRRAID M.I.T its a "gutted" intake tube, supposed to make the turbo louder. then I pulled the silencer ring. In my opion it wasnt worth the time or the money.
If I were you I'd just save up a little more and buy a cai. And do your research before you buy. some intakes are engineered to be as quiet as possible while providing max. flow.
Check around because some definately whistle more than others.
I finally put a brute force cai on mine and that made it whistle, but nothing compared to how it is now with the htt 64mm turbo. Thats Loud!!
Good luck with whatever you do.

Mount it anywhere you want, it's just the intake air temp sensor.

If you want to drill a few holes and put it in the pipe, fine.

If you want to put a little crankcase breather filter on it and stick it near the filter, fine.

If you want to put a sock on it and stick it out of the way, fine.

Most guys will just put a small breather filter over it and put it near the filter. That's exactly how the K&N kits are set up.

If you really want a loud intake, get and AFE Stage II.

That is BY FAR the loudest intake I've heard.

I have a buddy with a stock turbo, running the AFE Stage II and no silencer ring and I can EASILY hear him behind over my twins.....EASILY.

The thing sounds like a jet taking off from a carrier deck.
