...it's in the shop again, for the same steering problem. The service manager didn't even have to drive it. He looked under the truck, while I wiggled the steering wheel....got me a rental (on them, of course), with no eta on completion....Pretty pissed, as I've spent $100k on Chrysler/Dodge vehicles in the past year.....would like this fixed ASAP....

It sounds like your dealer is trying hard to please you. My suggestion is to treat them as if they are trying hard. They will get it resolved.

I had injector issues early in my trucks life. Everyone knew it, but Chrysler was trying to get out of replacing them. The dealer had to get approval and Chrysler wouldn't come off of it. So we were patient and I was extra nice to the dealer. Eventually the service manager got hold of the area rep and he made us jump through a few more hoops, but he ended up approving 6 new sticks for my truck! Problem solved.

Cool

...true...They really didn't even have to provide a rental... I've been decent with them so far, and will keep my cool as long as possible. The Dodge rep (called Dodge's national customer service before dropping the truck off, so they have a record) even suggested that I try a different dealer if my problem isn't resolved this time. I just hate having a new vehicle that makes me cringe every time I drive it... Anyone have suggestions as to what could cause this problem?

Still working with both the dealership and the Chrysler rep. Anyone else notice the horrible steering? We drive 06 F250's at work, and they 1)Go where you point them and 2)Don't need you to overcompensate to take them out of a turn.... Plus, a rutted road doesn't make them meander left and right nearly as much as my 2500...

RandyF -

I had a 2008 Quad cab 2500 that had the same problem. It was in for steering problems twice. They did alignments, checked linkages etc. I just traded the truck off on a 2010 Austin Tan Pearl coat 3500 Laramie, same friggen problem. Turns out the tires are the culprit in my case. The BF Goodrich cheapies they throw on from the factory are crap, I changed to the All Terrain, no problems whatsoever. When I jumped in my new truck and went down the road, I thought to myself not again!!! They also had to adjust the steering wheel on the new one. It looked like I was steering right while going straight.

DramIt-

My steering wheel was cocked to the left when I first got my truck... What are the factory alignment folks doing? Too many cervezas?

I may try to have them replace the tires.... thanks for the info man!

just curious have you checked your tire preasure? The dealers don't seem to get the fact that the tires are rated for 80 psi and 35 is not enough for the weight of the truck... mine drives like a chevy with low tire preasure but drives as it should with anything about 65 psi up front and that gives me perfectly normal tire wear etc.

The tires are 60psi fry & 45psi rear. The boxes are crap. At least Chrysler threw in an extended warranty... I'll replace the BFG's with some Michelin AT/A's when these are worn out. Can't wait for the recall... *ahem*

Randy..sorry to hear 'bout the bad luck. As mentioned before, are you in a one dealer (dodge) town. Are they new to Dodge (formerly jeep, chrysler but no dodge.) The dealer closest to the house (5 mins) has been around for years but just became a Dodge dealer 7 mo's ago. Bought my jeep from them 5 years ago and always been happy with service....to get to the point, they may not have service techs who are experienced with heavy duty trucks even though they sell and service trucks. Good luck, post a pic sounds like a sweet a$$ truck.
