Your suggestion did the trick. I've never put a wrench to a diesel before. Thanks for the advice. In fact all you guys here are awesome, saved me $1000 today.

My 01 was never consistant with the fuel filter change. One time I'd bump the starter 3-4 time and it would go, but other times it took 20. Never understood why.
