Default Removing gov sensor & solenoid

1999 3/4ton 4x4 w/Cummins, auto tranny.

I am replacing the governor sensor and solenoid in the transmission. I have the pan off and identified the parts, but am not certain how they are to be removed. They look like push in sensors, but I pried carefully on them and they didn't want to come out of the aluminum block they are in. This aluminum block has bolts to remove it, and I am wondering if there are some snap rings inside holding the sensors in place.
Do I need to remove this block to access snap rings, or do the parts just pry out? I didn't want to remove it and create new problems like small parts falling out and going everywhere.
