Default 1500/2500 parts compatability ?

Morning all. I'm trading my 07 1500 w/ the Hemi in today for an 08 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins
The new truck doesn't have any kind of tow kit, as best I can tell the truck has never even had a trailer behind it. The dealer says I can take the tow kit off my current truck and swap it onto the new one assuming they are interchangeable. Does anyone know for sure if I can do this?

While the hitch might fit, I doubt it's rated a strong as the 2500 hitch should be. Check that.

I hadn't thought about that... I just couldn't believe anyone would own a truck like that and not have a darn hitch on it!

being the frame is completly different on the half tons (not the MEga Cab thats a 2500 frame) I doubt they would be the same. One way to find out is call the parts department and and ask for the hitch part numbers for both.

Ozark since that truck has no hitch crawl under it to see if one was ever installed on it.. If not then your buying a truck that has never pulled a heavy trailer... unless its got a 5th wheel plate of course

Well looks like I'm going to have to buy a hitch but on the plus side its a pretty safe bet the truck has never been abused (by towing anyway). I cant find any evidence of a hitch, 5th wheel, or even a ball being installed on the bumper.
Thanks for the help everyone.
