just bought a 2003 3500 and have noticed that sometimes when i put it in drive it has a hard time shifting when it does shift the RPMs have to be high and it shifts hard if you stop and put into park and then back into drive most of the time it will fix the problem. it only does this when the motor is warmed up when it is cold it shifts good.

 

I had the same problem in my 05, dropped my trans pan and found a broken snapring, had to have the trans rebuilt,$3,500. ouch...
