Default Help needed asap urgent

Hi imy best friend has broken down 500kms from home.
he has a 2005 1 tone cummins.
he said everything was fine with truck while driving, he pulled over to grab a bite to eat, got back to truck and it turned over fine but just wont fire up. all the lights on the dash are correct, his fuel pump is priming like it should and he not long ago changed the oil filter fuel filter ect. does anyone have any ideas. Also has checked the fuel pump relay in fuse box by swapping it with another realy but still no luck.
Secondly if we cant get it started am i able to tow him home or is that a big no no bieng a 4X4

Have him cycle the key from off to run 3 times within 5 seconds.

This will display any codes that are being stored.

There are many codes that do not trip the MIL.

If it has to be towed with all 4 wheels on the ground, you need to remove the rear driveshaft. Otherwise you're burn up the trans.

Thanks coaltrain, we finally got it back. it turns out that it is injectors.
had to charge the batteries back up and use that cold start- either to fire it up.
when he brings his rpm's up to 2k and looses of the gas pedal they stop there for about 5 or more seconds and idles down very rough.
Anyway i told him to get a compression test done first before doing the injectors.
BTW his truck has 728k on it and for most of its life was used to haul trailers between states and canada.

That doesn't sound like the injectors, that sounds like the FCA is sticking.

Good thing is, it's a LOT less expensive than injectors.....it's about a third the price of ONE injector.
