Default rear leaf spring question... factory blocks???

I just rotated my tires on my 05 CTD 4x4 crew I purchased friday. really just wanted to check over everything, used truck and all. Anyway, I noticed that there are some ~1" blocks under the rear leafs. They don't look factory to me, but not sure. They look to be made from 3 stacked plates that are the same thickness and width as the leaf springs, almost like someone cut 3 leafs into ~5" long pieces, stacked them under the leafs, and slapped on the u-bolts. I just need to know if they are supposed to be there, before I order my leveling kit. I was gonna go with 3" front and 1.5" rear blocks which should keep it level. But that was before I noticed these. If I remove them, I just went backwards ~1" and need to adjust kit accordingly.

Really? Thats the strangest factory block I've seen. So I assume these should be removed when a block is added?

its not a block, they are actually bolted together in the leaf pack, and IIRC there are two bolts threw the pack, so you have to watch for that when ordering blocks, but no need to remove them.
