The Stealth BOMB'r is under the knife

Here's the progress today.
Got the head cinched back down.....
Rockers and pushrods are back in.
Gonna run the valves and set the lash, rotate the engine to make sure there are no clearance issues.
The rockers will come back out to put the injectors back in, but it's much easier to run the valves and check the clearance without having to fight the engines compression.
Once they go back in, the lash will get set again.

Alright, the motor is all buttoned up, except for the alternator and AC compressor.
She's full of oil, spun it over a few times tonight to make sure everything was good. Tomorrow we'll hook up the oil pressure gauge and spin it over on the starter to prime the system.
Once we see good oil pressure, it's time to stuff it back in.
Got a few small odds and ends to finish up, a few fittings in the fuel system and touching up a few parts, but otherwise it's about ready to go back in.
Probably the ONLY time you ever see clean oil in a Cummins.....

Well, we got two things accomplished tonight......Jack and Squat.
I figured we'd put the motor in without lifting the cab a bit......yeah, that wasn't happening.
We wrestled with it for an hour or so and said SCREW IT....we'll pull the Chevelle off the lift tomorrow, lift the cab a few inches and drop the motor in.
It just wasn't wanting to play and I was in no mood to mess with it.
But, the rest of the gauges came in today, so it wasn't a total waste.

Well, here's the progress.
Had to lift the cab about 4"-5" to get the motor to drop in without a fuss.
Engines in, fuel system is hooked up, EGT probes are in, water lines are hooked up, cab is bolted back down, front wheels are off.
Should go pretty quick from here.
The next major slow down will be running all the electrical.

Just undo the 8 body bolts underneath and disconnect the steering shaft.
You can go up 4 - 6 inches without disconnecting the brake lines. There enough flex and bends in them that all you have to do is keep an eye on them as you lift it.
If you want to totally remove the cab, you have to undo the 3 ABS lines and bleed the system when done.

So today we got the rest of the drivetrain in.
Serviced the trans.....didn't look half bad considering this was two years of crap.
Tomorrow starts the wiring.
Not bad for 2 years worth of abuse.....
Adjusted the bands.....
Installed the fittings for the braided lines.....
Exhaust is hooked back.....man I hate that v-band.
And, the sexy new rotors came in today.....
