The Stealth BOMB'r is under the knife
#121
Aaaaaand, with the exception of the nitrous, the Stealth BOMB'r V3.0 is now complete.
Did the 500 mile service yesterday, changed the rear brakes to EBC Ultimax's, got the dash pod painted and made one little BS run don the track last night.
Made a whole bunch of tire smoke, but was otherwise a good time and the motor ran well.

Took me 6 hrs to read through every inch of this thread...highly impressive work! For a shop owner I'm surprised you pretty much did everything yourself. Most dudes just make the employees do that, but then again, I guess you would be missing out on all the fun.
So updated dyno run coming soon? What kind of numbers are you expecting to pull now?
Again, friggin nice man. Everything is just really super nice, lovin all the custom touches you put in!
Wanna fix that '05 CTD I bought? Got some major blow-by...maybe you can just PM me some info on that and we can get together? THX

Well, we hit the rollers today.
She drove up under her own power and got us back home.
Ended up doing about 18 pulls today, but fell a little short of the 800 HP mark....simply don't have enough turbo on it....that'll get remedied this winter.
Started out with 2 hardware only pulls, no tuning. It put down 513 HP / 935 TQ without any tune at all....stock software.
When all was said and done, we had it up to 771 HP and 1474 TQ.
The motor was FLAWLESS, never missed a beat. I couldn't be happier with the motor itself, just need to add more air. Fuel sure as hell ain't the problem.....got plenty of that.
Here's a couple pics. I'm working on the video now.....
On the dyno.....
Marking it's territory.....
Comparison from pre and post build. Settings on the Smarty were identical, but the on the March run I was using the water and meth. The temperature in March was 32* cooler and the humidy was 37% lower.....

Been quite a bit more done with the truck lately....some necessary, some not so much.
I had been planning on freshening the trans this winter, as it's been in the truck for almost 3 years of abuse, but it decided that it wanted to be done sooner rather than later.
I lost 1st and 2nd gear (welded the clutch packs toghether pretty good), so we tore it down and rebuilt it. Anything that was still a weak link got swapped.
It still had the stock output shaft, that's gone, replaced with a billet piece. It got a new 2nd Servo, new Accumulator, Alto Red Eagle clutches and band, the TC was freshened and I had Jeff Garmon build the valve body for it.
Was waiting on a set of clutches for the rear drum, but those will be here today, so we'll get the trans all buttoned back up and stuff in tonight.

So, some how overnight shipping turns into 4 days and I still don't have my clutches......there showing as getting delivered tomorrow.
Which, like when I had the motor out of the truck turns into time to do things that I otherwise wouldn't have.
Decided I was sick of looking at the rusty azz drive shafts.....

Torquezilla is complete!
Pump seal and guide studs.....
Trans pump.....
Accumulator.....
Valve Body.....
Almost done.....
Checking end play. Should be between .038" and .084".....
SunCoast Torque Converter that was rebuild by Garmon & Co.....
I bolted the flex plate on because I cut new TC bolts and need to make sure they weren't too deep.....

Okay, so I got around to to putting the ladder bars on today.
First, I gotta say these things came packaged AWESOME! Finally, someone that understands I don't want stuff showing up pre-screwed before I even get a hold of it. Kudo's to Glacier on that.
Second, I'm REALLY impressed with the quality of the ladder bars. Nice powder coating, nice hardware, nice welds, really good looking product.
So, here they are. Can't say what I think of them yet, as, well, no trans in the truck yet.
Here are the contents in that arrived.....
Here they are pre-assembled.....
Installed.....

Little more work done while I'm waiting for my new trans jack to get here. Figures, the thing decides to blow the second stage seal right when I want to put it back in.
Added a secondary trans cooler right behind the bumper. It's a B&M 11" x 4.5" x 1.5".
The stock cooler feeds into this one and this feed back to the trans.
And, added a litte trickery that should do quite nicely.....
